Bureaucracy, hierarchical bullying, leaders and lowly followers, and then any other type of governing with the expense and exploitation with the governed... these are hurtful and criminal systems for your benefit with the few as well as the misery with the many. There are better ways of living and working together. I have proposed and exercised an extremely simpler, balanced, harmonious, and successful guideline for any good teacher and willing students to really work and learn together.
Leadership and responsibility are shared equally, so long as all people in friends first understand how it works and second, are needing to enjoy its productivity and share joy of learning and working together.
Much with the old "system" must necessarily be dispensed with: the pressures of fear, punishment, totalitarian authority, ugly competition, along with a resulting deficiency of learning, joy, and boundless deficiency of productivity. Replacing these "traditional" habits of non-learning with brand new attitudes of tending to one another's qualities and skills, sharing and helping, and developing a feeling of confidence and trust in your integrity knowning that of the fellows... and seeing and exceptional infinite benefits... this is just what we had arrived all capable to accomplish together.
Each individual is in the example of planning and undertaking plans written by just about every member with the group, using the teacher's guidance and experience like a resource of good use. First, the agenda of assorted skills is written and decided upon, each contributing to and approving in our outline of the items you want to learn. Thus... we have a plan, a syllabus, out of which to draw our day to day activities of curriculum and learning.
Next, we know what form of leadership or management qualities should be made, in order to accomplish real learning skills together. The literal qualities: subject preparation; understanding group dynamics; and making the best possible use in our time together. Also... collecting our work material together, for daily use. The abstract qualities: selection of different ways; caring for your productivity of each member with the group; having a well-earned pride inside the advancement of each individual; concern for individual and group behavior and harmony; experiencing and enjoying the vast selection of skills and experience that could be achieved; transferring the learning skills and subject content past the Fall Toddler Classroom Decorations, as life lessons.
What specific duties must each of us experience, in order to make this daily venture a hit? To love who were and what were engaged in. Yes! This is the best of living, in and out with the classroom. Loving our work... and working to adore us.
We rotate leadership and management duties, once our agenda is accessible out of which to draw for your daily lessons. Two students at any given time... work cooperatively as co-teachers; they must both prepare ahead of time so that they can be relied upon to hold things moving smoothly. At the same time, the students want this pair to have success: in the event the student teachers prosper, so will the rest with the class. They help each other to have success... as friends effort.
We also rotate other Fall Toddler Classroom Decorations management duties, i.e... the passing and collecting of materials; posting the daily agenda around the board; welcoming one's fellows upon arrival and contributing to immediately getting down to business; becoming host to any and all visitors, and taking good care of interruptions quickly; taking attendance (to be checked with the teacher); active and giving aid wherever necessary; keeping a fairly easy journal/log in our day's accomplishments, to be eventually used with the next couple of student teachers to make their plans, keeping transition as smooth as you can.
We must encourage and also for flexibility and spontaneity in the way you make valuable use in our time together. Issues appear... that want immediate attention. In addition, you want to periodically evaluate how were all doing. What are our strengths? Where might we improve? This is necessarily a continuous process. Be as genuinely upbeat and encouraging as you can. Once again... this learning experience transfers to everyone's own life situation. Think of how this will and does benefit future and current family and community life. It works! The best critics and supporters... are the students themselves.
It can be a beautiful experience, also from my perspective as both a teacher and student. Much affection is openly encouraged. Students are needing to come to class. Boredom as well as the need to cheat fade from existence. Memorable moments are experienced. Students invited others to see: parents, personnel, community mentors, siblings, plus visitor/participants from my "special class" which, in turn, invited our students to come to their room and give them also. Their teacher was thrilled to participate in. A not-so-foreign exchange.
Perhaps our only problem: just not lots of time to try everything we had arrived needing to accomplish. Hence... it had become the individual's choice to carry on and develop his/her own objectives beyond our limited class time. Many "projects" were done outside, and so the outcome was shared using the group. Fantastic variety! One senior lad had initiated his or her own business when you purchase one porta-potty to be rented for farmworkers inside the field (having not one other such facility); he earned enough, eventually, to purchase a different one, continuing to keep them very well. An accomplishment for himself... yet others. A young woman in a very junior class crocheted warm and attractive baby blankets to be first given and later on sold as lovely and useful items; I still use mine, many years later.
Life skills were a constant, including curriculum lessons and developing a lifelong joy and appreciation for learning, and living nearly as good your life as you can, plus through an immediate and extended positive impact on others. Horizontal management... a blessing to all or any... along with a horizon without limit or boundaries.
